Prerequisite

If you do not see this button when creating a new asset, you may not have a license supporting this feature. This User Guide makes references to Ticker Docking and Multiple Headline Ticker. These are additional license features that can be added to your license on request. Please contact your SnapComms Sales representative to arrange an upgrade to your license if required.

How it works

Each Ticker (by default) contains a single Headline (maximum length 1500 characters) which is repeated 3 times and scrolls across the entire width of the Ticker Bar before auto retracting. Users can manually close the Ticker Bar at any stage. Headlines should be kept brief, as users will generally not read long messages. The Ticker Bar is displayed (by default) just above the Windows Task Bar. Users can move or resize the Ticker Bar while it is visible, their preferences are retained on that machine for future Ticker displays.

Note: If the Ticker Bar is positioned on top of the Windows Task Bar (not recommended), the Windows Task Bar will not be accessible until the Ticker Bar is closed or has auto retracted. Ticker Docking (additional license feature) enables you to dock the Ticker Bar to the Windows Task Bar thus reserving the screen space above the Windows Task Bar for the Ticker Bar. When Ticker Docking is enabled, all other programs and open windows will not overlap, or be overlapped by the Ticker Bar, but instead resized to accommodate the Ticker Bar while it is being displayed.

Users can be sent more than one Ticker at a time, each displaying then retracting one after the other. Multiple Headline Ticker (additional license feature) enables you to send several Headlines via one Ticker. All unread Headlines are (by default) set to recur until they are marked as read. Users can view the ticker at any time via their Message History of their SnapComms client.

Headlines can be hyperlinked to a website/intranet page, a network shared file, an email address, or to a Desktop Alert style message (default) created within the Ticker Message Window.
