SMS Messaging Overview

Text Messages, technically referred to as Simple Messaging Service (SMS), can be sent to a user's mobile phone through SnapComms. The SMS message can be used to notify users that there is a new SnapComms message available on their desktop or mobile apps or to send a short message to those without a SnapComms app installed. SMS messages can be sent to a single user or multiple users within your organization.

  • Licensing

SMS Messaging is a licensed feature. Speak to your Customer Success Manager if you wish to have the appropriate license for this feature.

  • SMS Gateway

For sending SMS messages, SnapComms requires a third-party SMS Gateway service provider with a Developer API to be provided by the customer. The following SMS Gateway providers that are currently supported:

  • Twilio (free trial in most countries and recommended by SnapComms)

  • Esendex (free trial in most countries)

  • FastSMS/TextAnywhere(free trial for UK customer)

  • Clickatell (free trial in all countries except the USA however, due to issues sending to US/Canadian mobile numbers, SnapComms does not recommend using Clickatell if you are in those regions)

  • International Number Format

Users' mobile numbers should be entered in the correct international number format to avoid delivery issues since this is an international service and makes use of an international SMS gateway to deliver your messages.

Note: If your Content Manager is not yet hosted in the cloud, there may be additional requirements needed for you to be able to use this feature. Speak to your Customer Success Manager to discuss any additional requirements you need to consider.
