Configure SnapComms client / app for use with a proxy

Use Proxy from Internet Explorer (Default)

The SnapComms client / app is (by default) set to inherit the proxy settings from Internet Explorer.

If your web proxy is configured to require authentication, the client will always request a username and password be entered on first-use (which will be stored and re-used for future use).

To enable SnapComms client to bypass your proxy, you will need to add svc.snapcomms.com and content.snapcomms.com (and all their subdomains) to your proxy filter's exclusion list.

Use No Proxy

You can set the SnapComms client / app to use no proxy.

Open the SnapComms client / app Message History window
Click on the Diagnostics button (the Settings button on SnapComms clients)

Select the Proxy Server tab
Select Do not use a proxy server.

The above setting can be pre-configured when creating the SnapComms client / app prior to mass deployment:
Navigate to Management >> Client Provisioning
Click on Show Advanced Settings at the bottom of the screen
Under Proxy Server Settings, select No Proxy (direct connection)

Once you have configured your settings, create and deploy your SnapComms client / app with no proxy settings.

Manually Configure Proxy Settings

The proxy settings can be manually configured via the SnapComms client / app on an individual basis only.
Open the SnapComms client / app Message History window
Click on the Diagnostics button (the Settings button on SnapComms clients)

Select the Proxy Server tab
Select Use these proxy server settings

Enter your proxy server address, port and (if your web proxy is configured to require authentication) the username and password
Click OK.
