The Publishing Statistics report helps you review publishing activity and message performance across your organization. Use it to compare channels, templates, folders, and publishers, or open an individual message's reports for more detail.
The report helps you answer questions such as:
- How many messages have been published each month?
- Which channels and templates are being used most?
- How successfully are messages reaching and engaging employees?
- How can I export reporting data for several messages at once?
Open the report
- In Content Manager, go to Report Center.
- Open Publishing Statistics.
- Use the date range selector at the top of the page to choose the period you want to review.
The report initially shows the last 30 days. You can choose a preset period, such as This Month or Last 90 days, or select your own start and end dates.
The date range selects messages by their publish date. Only content you have permission to access is included.
Summary view
Summary groups publishing activity by month and channel. It is useful for comparing activity over time and seeing which channels your organization uses.
The charts show:
- Messages sent by month: publishing activity over time.
- Messages sent by channel: the number of published messages by channel.
The table includes the following columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Month | The month and year the messages were published. |
| Channel | The content channel, such as an Alert, Ticker, or Screensaver. |
| Messages Sent | The number of published versions for that month and channel. Republishing a message adds another version to this count. |
| Average Success Percentage | The average of the success percentages for the published versions in that row. Each version contributes equally to the average, regardless of audience size. |
| Total Targeted | The sum of the targeted counts for the published versions in that row. Someone targeted by more than one version can be counted more than once. |
Detail view
Select Detail to see a separate row for each published version of a message. The table initially lists the most recently published versions first.
You can review the message name, version, channel, template, folder, creator, publisher, publish date, and success statistics.
The charts show overall download, notification, read, and success percentages, along with publishing activity by template and success comparisons by template, folder, and publisher. The charts update when you search or filter the table.
Understand the statistics
- Targeted Count: the number of recipients targeted with that published version.
- Download Count: the number of targeted recipients that downloaded the content.
- Notified Count: the number of recipients that had a notification displayed.
- Read Count: the number of recipients recorded as having the main content displayed.
- Success Count: the number of recipients that met the message's success criteria.
- Success Percentage: the success rate for that published version, based on its success criteria.
Success criteria vary by channel and may depend on the message's settings. A download, notification, content display, and successful interaction measure different stages of engagement.
Additional columns, such as Total Read Count, Total Notified Count, Total Read Later Count, and Total Dismissed Count, include repeat interactions.
Search, filter, and customize columns

- Sort: click a sortable column heading to change the order of the rows.

Switching between Summary and Detail clears the current search and column filters.
Open an individual message's reports
- Select Detail.
- Find the message and published version you want to review.
- Click the message name to open its reports in a side panel.
- Select View Content Reports if you want to open the full reporting page for that message.
Export the report table
Open the export menu and choose one of the following options to download a CSV file that you can open in Excel:
- Export current rows (.csv): exports the rows matching your current search and column filters.
- Export all rows (.csv): exports all rows loaded for the selected date range, without applying the table's search and column filters.
These options export the table for your current Summary or Detail view.
Export detailed reporting data for multiple messages
Bulk exports let you download reporting data for several messages together, without opening and exporting each message's reports separately.
- Open Publishing Statistics and select Detail.
- Choose the date range you want to report on.
- Use search and column filters to show the messages and versions you want to include.
- Sort by publish date, with the newest versions first.
- Open the export menu and, under Bulk success data, choose:
- Export all version data: exports success data separately for the message versions shown in the filtered table.
- Export consolidated data: combines success results across published versions of each included message.
- Wait for the export confirmation. The report is processed in the background and an email is sent to the email address on your administrator account when it is ready.
- Open the email titled Your SnapComms report export is ready and use the download link to download the ZIP file.
Bulk export limit
A bulk export can include up to 500 unique messages. Multiple versions of the same message count as one message for this limit. With the table sorted newest first, an export containing more than 500 messages includes the 500 most recently published messages.
To export additional messages, narrow the date range or apply filters and run another export.
What is included in the ZIP file?
- success-report.csv: success reporting data for the included messages and requested versions.
- publishing-statistics.csv: publishing statistics for the included message versions within the selected date range.
- click-through.csv: link interaction data, included when click-through data is available.
The selected date range is passed to the exported reports, including click-through activity. Click-through events are exported once per message and are not separated by published version.
The download link expires after 30 days and can be used only once. Save the ZIP file when you download it.
